Max is officially a kindergartener!!  The weeks leading up to the start of school brought so many feelings my way.  I have been so fortunate to spend the last five years with Maxwell but I often wonder if I did what was best by resigning from my job to stay home and raise my baby.  There have been so many moments of awesomeness and more challenges than I ever could have imagined.  It is by far the hardest thing I have ever done.  But it is also the BEST thing I have ever done. But still, leading up to the start of school I couldn't help but wonder, had I done enough to prepare him for school?  Should I have done more during our time together?  One of my struggles with "staying home" is that it is very hard for me to measure my success.  And now I was nearing having some sort of feedback from strangers as to how I have done in this job and it was starting to intimidate me.  But the first day of school is about Max, right?  Well, for me it was very much about both of us.  Once the first day did roll around, he was ready.  Very ready.  He was confident and excited.  I could not have asked for anything more.  I am so proud of our little boy.  And I am so grateful for our five years together.  I feel like I only see him for minutes now that he is away at school all day.  He is always excited to see Lucy and I waiting to pick him up at the bus stop but then he quickly darts off with his friends in the neighborhood to play until dinner.  Thank you, Jonathan, for allowing me to stay with our children all day every day.  Some days it is hard to recognize it as the gift that it truly is.  But I am so grateful.  I love the family we have created and I am so proud of all of us!

  3. You've captured it ALL! In pictures, the things so important to Max...the sign, the shoes, the backpack, the mommy, the daddy! And you've shared yourself & your fears, your joys, your love of your firstborn in your words. Keep doing what you both are doing....you're doing a great job!!
